Citrus fruits are usually celebrated for their vitamin C content but they may have an even more powerful health benefit.
A study published in the journal ARYA Atherosclerosis found that lime juice can help prevent atherosclerosis, which is the build-up of plaque in arteries that is associated with increased heart attack risk.

The study leaders said more research was needed to identify exactly why, but they put the effect down to flavonoid compounds found in the fruit.
