Actor Jonathan Majors Arrested and Charged with Assault and Battery

According to police, the arrest occurred when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic conflict in an apartment located in the Chelsea neighborhood at around 11:00 a.m.

Upon arriving, officers took Majors, into custody without incident, following a complaint filed by a 30-year-old woman who claimed to have been assaulted.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the incident, the woman alleged that Majors struck her face with an open hand, causing significant pain and a laceration behind her ear.

She also stated that Majors grabbed her hand and placed his hands around her neck, causing swelling, bruising, and substantial pain.

Majors' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has denied the allegations, stating that evidence would prove the actor's innocence.

Chaudhry noted that evidence included video footage from the vehicle where the alleged assault occurred, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, "and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations."

Despite the defense's arguments, Majors was charged with two misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault, second-degree aggravated harassment, second-degree harassment, and third-degree attempted assault.

Majors appeared briefly in court, and the judge released him on his own recognizance, scheduling the next court date for May 8.

Majors, nominated for an Emmy in 2021 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in HBO's "Lovecraft Country," has most recently appeared in "Creed III" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."

A spokesperson for Majors has denied any wrongdoing by the actor, stating that he has done nothing wrong and that they look forward to clearing his name.
