Brazilian Woman Sets Husband Ablaze in Disturbing Act of Domestic Violence

 In a harrowing and deeply disturbing incident in Brazil, a woman escalated domestic violence to a horrifying extreme by dousing her husband in a flammable liquid and setting him ablaze, ultimately leading to his tragic demise.

The shocking episode, captured on surveillance video at a store in Rio de Janeiro last Monday, unfolds with chilling clarity. Ana Maria Paixao, carrying a bottle of fluid, enters the stock room and approaches her husband, Andre Chapeta, who is seated at a table.

With shocking intent, Paixao pours the liquid over Chapeta before igniting a lighter and setting him on fire. The footage documents the visceral horror as Chapeta reacts by leaping from the table and fleeing the room in flames.

The scene continues on the street, where Chapeta, now resembling a human torch, frantically runs before collapsing. He was subsequently rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to severe burns covering 92 percent of his body on Friday.

The gravity of this crime deepens as Paixao, taken into police custody on Thursday, was released on a technicality after a judge failed to sign the arrest warrant.
